Best First Class

No airlines currently offer service in first class to Mexico City. There is also no option to connect unless you want to fly on US domestic first class that we wouldn’t recommend is worth the added time.

Best Business Class

Not all business class are made equal. One this route only one airline offers a fully bed while others just have a slightly larger seat. So if you are willing to pay a premium for comfort (or shell out some points) we’ll tell you what option would be best.

1. Delta Airlines B757

Delta B757 is one of the few aircraft that flies to Mexico City with a fully lay flat bed. Given the flight from Mexico City to New York is almost 6 hours it sure seems worth it to pick Delta over the other options. You can expect a full meal on board as well as a semi private experience as the cabin is setup in a 2-2 configuration with window seats not having aisle access.

2. Aeromexico 787

Aeromexico Business Class features a fully lie flat experience on one route between Mexico City to New York. The cabin layout is in a 2-2-2 but the seats are on an upgraded aircraft making them more modern and comfortable. Outside of Delta we find this an incredibly comfortable way to make the 6 hour journey between Mexico City and New York.

3. United B737

United Boeing 737 offers a pretty basic business class with the seats similar to domestic first class. While not the ideal seat to be in for 6 hour its actually pretty comfortable for a daytime flight. Given United typically runs a little cheaper on this route it is still a great option to consider.

Of the airlines that fly to Mexico City only Delta and Aeromexico offer a fully lie flat bed. If you are truly looking for the business class experience I would highly suggest booking one of those two and pass on the regular seating on airlines such as United and American.

Best Economy Class

1. Aeromexico Economy

When it comes to Economy class there usually isn’t a major difference amongst major airlines. When going to Mexico City we enjoy taking Aeromexico given the amount of destinations they fly to and the flight departure / arrival times. The airline does offer a meal even on the shorter routes which is more than I can say about US based carriers.

Summary & Takeaways

With many different airlines offering service to Mexico City this is great news for travelers. In our opinion if you can score Delta Business Class or Aeromexico, the lie flat seat is unmatched on this route in terms of comfort. Outside of those the remainder of the options tend to be fairly similar and you should have a comfortable trip regardless of which you choose. Keep in mind these tend to only fly from major cities like New York or Los Angeles.

Keep in mind many airlines are trying to find other ways to separate themselves like lounge access and investment in better food. If you have flexibility on this route we recommend going with an airline that suites your travel needs and letting us know what you think is best in the comments
