While the city has plenty to offer, it only brings in about 3 million visitors each year.

If you are planning to fly from the US its also not close, you can expect between a 6 – 10 hour flight.

Airports Near Bueno Aires

Buenos Aires is primary served by two airports, with international travelers arriving via Ministro Pistarini Airport, known as Ezeiza, that is located a bit outside the city. The city is also home to a smaller airport Jorge Newberry that is primarily for domestic flights.

Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE)45 min$10
Jorge Newberry (AEP)15 min$5

Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE) is the biggest airport in Argentina and located 32km from the centre of Buenos Aires city. Most all long-haul international flights arrive and depart from here, along with some shorter domestic and regional flights. If you are traveling from the United States then this is where you will be arriving.

Jorge Newberry (AEP) is located within the city itself, in the Palermo neighbourhood. The airport is within 25 minutes of the main hotels in Buenos Aires and it typically serves domestic flights and those to neighboring countries.

Airlines Flying To Buenos Aires

If you are departing from the US, there are limited options if you want to fly direct. Only the major US carriers of Delta, United, and American offer nonstop service with smaller airlines offering 1 stop service via Central or South America.

The major cities served by direct flights include New York, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, and Houston. If you are not located in one of these cities you may need to transfer to them to fly in nonstop to Warsaw.

If you are willing to make one stop then you have additional options such as Avianca and Copa Airlines that both offer onward journeys from the US to Buenos Aires via Colombia or Panama.

Best First Class

Unfortunately no airline offers a true first class product from the US to Buenos Aires. This is a bit disappoint since some airlines first class are the best airplane seats you can buy.

However, there are business class options and getting a lay flat bed is usually good enough especially for red eye flights.

Best Business Class

Not all business class are made equal so if you are willing to pay a premium for comfort (or shell out some points) we’ll tell you what option would be best. Given the premium that comes with first class, business class cabins on this route can be almost as luxurious as first and easily stand above many other business class offerings around the world.

1. American Airlines 777 Business Class

American Airlines’ Boeing 777 business class is a standout option for flights to Buenos Aires. The cabin features a contemporary design with lie-flat seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration. Each seat has a large touchscreen for entertainment, offering an extensive selection of movies, TV shows, and music. The reason we like American Airlines is the amount of routes they fly offering service to multiple cities. They are clearly the leader out of the US carriers in service to Argentina and if you are looking for business class this would be a great way to fly.

2. United Airlines 777

United Polaris Business Class is one of the most comfortable and private seats to fly to South America. We’ve flown it multiple times from Newark to Frankfurt and indulged in the amazing Polaris lounge prior to takeoff. United flyings the 777 nonstop to Buenos Aires from Houston and offers service twice a day. Onboward you can expect a 1-2-1 layout but still giving each seat its own aisle access.

Best Economy Class

There usually isn’t a major difference in economy class hard product but there may be items some airlines do better than others. However, on long haul routes to Buenos Aires you may want to spring for Premium Economy, which is certainly a step above a standard seat. While many premium economy seats are similar, we especially like those offering comfortable seats and reasonable food to make us pick one over the other.

1. Delta 767 Premium Economy

We have to give it to Delta again flying their new premium economy seats on a nonstop flight to Buenos Aires. While the unfortunate news is these seats are not cheap and do not offer complimentary upgrades from main cabin, they are still the most comfortable way to fly outside of business. You can expect a larger seat, foot rest, and upgraded food, which will certainly feel like an upgrade from standard economy. Given the length of the flight, if you don’t want to spring for business class this is a great next option.

2. United 777 Economy

United is a standout with the plane flying to Buenos Aires looking to have the most comfortable economy class. The layout is a 2-3-2 while most others offer a 2-4-2 layout. Again this won’t make a major difference, especially if you are able to snag one of the 2 seat sections on any of the other airlines. However, on a full flight you will definitely notice a roomier cabin even if the plane is a bit smaller compared to an Americans offering.

Summary & Takeaways

Buenos Aires is a city that should be attracting many travelers but given the distance it doesn’t offer a lot of non stop service to the US. We would like to see carriers like Jetblue or even South American companies offer non stop service but today you will still need a layover.

Luckily the big three US carriers all offer flights on some of their newest planes. You can’t really go wrong with any of them but certainly the length of the flight may convince you to spring for that nicer seat.
